Orchids

Got up and went across to the Morrison's opposite the hotel for some bits and pieces for lunch so that my sister didn't have to cater for us. The boys had got themselves ready fairly promptly so we had croissants and pain au chocolat in the hotel room and then got going to mum's. 

She was pleased to see us. The boys now tower over her as she is looking so frail. We put the new simpler telephone in for her, clipping the wires to the skirting board round the hall. We're hoping she'll find it easier to hear and to use. 

Went down to B's and set up the lunch. My nephew and his girlfriend were there too so it was a good chance for the cousins to catch up. We had a nice afternoon chatting and eating. i'd helped Mum put her new hearing aids in so I think she was able to follow the conversation a bit better (though the young ones' discussion of Uber passed her by completely). We took Mum home and then set off back for Reading. We had a good journey back. 

Pleased that we managed to make the trip and that it wasn't as bad traffic-wise as we thought given it was so near to Christmas. 

The orchids were a present from MIL to J. They looked lovely.
