Pirate dog

This is Bob one of our house guests. He only has one eye, hence being known as the pirate. I also call him boglin.

I only allow dogs on the sofa with me by invitation, so he was lucky this afternoon to be blessed, he originally came up to get away from the whirlwind that is little mouse and settled behind me but then little mouse wanted boobies and i just didn't have the heart to move him off so i settled him down at the end of the sofa.

Bob really just seems to want some peace and quiet. He is actually the same age as Ferd (roughly) he was owned originally by my in laws and so they have known each other forever and why i think he has slotted into the house pretty well.

He has a lovely nature and is really winning me round (to be fair not too hard now he no longer smells so strongly of pee and the matted poo has been removed from his butt :( still have more grooming to do but doing it in stages as its hard when you have a two year old 'helping' and he is slowly learning some discipline in a very gentle we don't shout way) its no secret that of all spaniels I'm not a huge fan of king charles so its a big step for me :D

My uncle in law does love the dogs but he is wheelchair bound and I just don't think he realised what a mess that they had got in or what an impact his actions have on their health (lots of treats and food and more food and treats and bad food). He has dog walkers but they haven't been able to see the issues and the vets obviously could only do so much (plus they'd only seen them once (current vets) and im not really sure if they'd had many vets trips previously after father in law left). Luckily when he moved near to us his nearest vets is ours and so now with their support i have made positive changes, they know me pretty well and have been so helpful but we know these will be undone when they go back into his care. Which is another concern.

They are company for him, they have the emotional tie of originally belonging to his sister (Mr Mouses mum) but honestly that's not enough really is it!? Mr Mouse obviously doesn't want to upset his uncle and is torn but wants what's best for the dog and us. Ultimately though they don't belong to us and we can only present options and hope their best interests are what wins the day.
