Dying to be Blipped

Don't know what this is, but it was obligingly languishing in its death throes on the kitchen floor.
In fact, it may well have been dead by the time I grabbed the camera.

The whole country's experiencing a heatwave, and not forecast to cool down for several days.
Some parts of the country have reached the high 40s, but only 36' here.
