At this time of year everyone enjoys seeing Hazel Catkins. They are of course male and create pollen.

Not everyone notices the tiny female flowers however. Usually these small pink flowers emerge further along the twig and sit waiting for pollen to arrive carried by the breeze.

It is not always easy to get both the catkins and the flowers in reasonable focus together but today I was lucky.

My extra shows life as we know it even if we might wish that it was not so. But when you are clearing out cupboards you have to join in and add to this sad sight. We were disposing of a 1950s slide projector left to us by parents. Now totally past its time.
