A Special Cinema

The Rex Cinema in Elland is one of the oldest purpose-built cinemas in the UK: it opened in 1912.
It has a Conn 651 organ and concerts are held on the third Sunday of every month.
It has modern Pullman seats and Dolby stereo sound.
Currently showing 'Stan & Ollie' there was a steady stream of customers for today's matinee.

Mrs MD is off tonight to see 'The Favourite' at Hebden Picture House which is also a very special cinema. Independent and not-for-profit, it's operated by Hebden Royd Town Council - helped by a thriving Friends of the Picture House supporter group,
It has brand new seats offering excellent leg room and they serve tea in proper mugs and sell locally baked cakes. You can also have a glass of wine or a beer at your seat, or go for a tub of Yorkshire ice cream or some popcorn if you’re feeling old-school!
Such luxury.......
