Amidst all the dehyrating I've been doing for my Xmas stall, I slipped in a tray of these Mexican inspired breakfast 'pastries' as a treat for myself. I've never eaten cooked versions of these, despite living in Central America. However...

I used sprouted wheatberries, so you need a bit of pre-planning to make them. My batter wasn't as smooth as I wanted it to be - the kernals of wheat which hadn't broken down produced a kink when I was piping them. I thought they were fun-looking all the same.

My recipe said to do them for 24 hrs. I took these out at 16, and they were fine. They taste better than they look, only it does make you crave a cup of coffee.
