Bikes

These bright orange bikes are becoming a common sight around ChiangMai.  They can be hired for a 99bht deposit and then cost  10bht a kilometer.   Apparently you download an app on to your phone, unlock the bike by using a QR code and then off you go.  The bikes can be left anywhere  to either be used by someone else or they are collected by a truck.  In this case there was a truck around the corner picking up discarded bikes. 

The last couple of days have been fairly quiet.  Hubby had a few things to sort out regarding tax.  Although we are here on retirement visas tax is still taken from our savings and then we claim it back at the end of the year .  This can be done on line.  Simple.  No.  After getting into the tax office sight, hubby put in his details.  He was rejected.   After several tries, including meeting up with our bank manager, who initially help us get all our finances sorted,  he was no closer.  So off to the tax office.  After seeing several people there it turned out that his birth date had been incorrectly entered into the system.  Simple answer, change the date in the sytem.  No.  So now for tax purposes he has to remember an alternative date.  When we were told that we could live like royalty here, we did not realise that that included two birthday, a real one and an official one. Ah well, at least we will get a tax refund.
