Grand day out

Today I was treated to afternoon tea at the Grand Central Hotel in Belfast as a belated birthday present. It is served on the 23rd floor and we were escorted to a special lift, cordoned off by a thick red silken rope - very exclusive!

The food was lovely, as evidenced by these delicious raspberry macaroons with passion fruit cream. We had a glass of Prosecco with our amuse bouche and then Hastings Hotel special Assam tea with our sandwiches, scones and little pastries.

I used my 60-plus card on the train so had free transport. It was great to spend time with Rosie and Janet and we decided we should be ‘ladies who lunch’ more often, now that we have all retired from full-time employment.
