Another golf dinner

A very quick blip as I just got home and it's 11.30 pm.

The husband was Captain of the golf club in 2014 and that was the year I joined the book club for something to do when he was at meetings, dinners and spending more time than ever on the golf course.

In his year of Captaincy, he had almost 30 dinners to attend over the course of 4 months, twice as many as most Captains as his club was in two leagues - so that's a lot of roast beef!

It wasn't something he particularly enjoyed and he left the club at the end of his term (too many politics and fighting in the playground), but he has stayed in touch with all the Captain's from his year - the only group to have done so.

Although the majority of dinners are men only, tonight is one of the only mixed dinners so we went along in our finest.  Five years and every single time the menu is the same, mushroom stroganoff (for the vegetarians) and pavola - and I don't like mushrooms :(

The blip was some artwork on the wall which took my eye as it seemed overly grand for the setting.

Quote for today:
Life is too short to stuff a mushroom.
