CN Lester and Toby Carr

A fundraising concert for the Sing with Pride choir was held this evening in a beautiful lodge in one of the parks in Norwich. It was a gorgeous venue but light levels were difficult hence this blurry shot.

Performers CN Lester and Toby Carr met at Trinity College of Music in 2009 and have worked together ever since. Originally performing renaissance lute song with a particular emphasis on settings of English poetry, the pair then discovered a shared love of modern concert music and have since gone on to explore a wide range of repertoire resulting in the concert programme which became the Dark Angels project and album.

CN works as a mezzo-soprano specializing in castrati and travesti operatic roles, contemporary classical music and lute song. Toby is a guitarist and lutenist whose repertoire ranges from medieval music to new collaborative commissions.

It was the perfect end to a pretty tech-intensive week at work.
