After I’d posted last nights blip we were all due to sit down and watch The Shape Of Water. But the plummeting temperature indicated a heating issue. The oil boiler had packed in. And the emergency plumbers were all off-grid or didn’t service oil boilers.

So, we got wrapped up and headed into the garden. Mrs S had grabbed her gear, Joe had grabbed a torch as it was pitch black and I stood beside them making encouraging noises. After some time, and not a little swearing, we got the side panel off (four different screws requiring a combination of Philips screwdriver, Allen Key, and flat head screwdriver). Then the restart buttons had to be pressed in a certain order and...it blew out black smoke then kicked back into action. Hurrah!

Until this morning when it packed in again. We fixed it more quickly this time but it’s going to need a professional to look at it.

After that excitement, I headed out on the bike for a mid-length trundle. Got home to do some work before making mushroom carbonara and then running Ruby back into town.
