Eurasian siskin

Mr U&L and I spent and enjoyable but very cold couple of hours watching the birds at the local nature reserve this afternoon. I managed to fiddle with my lens and discovered it definitely performs much better at 300mm so that was what I used.
This little Eurasian siskin Spinus spinus was merrily feasting on the sunflower hearts, and while I normally hate taking shots of birds on feeders it just refused to sit on any of the surrounding branches!
The Siskin is a relatively common small finch, which gather in groups in winter often with Lesser redpolls.
As we were leaving I we visited another hide, where we were lucky enough to see a beautiful kingfisher. I have added the somewhat inadequate shot I managed to get in extras.
