An Artwalk evening

My eye was drawn to this bright, bold painting by artist Kristen Gilje, whose work was among many on display at the Allied Arts Gallery. Tonight was Artwalk, and despite the cold temperatures, and the hail and rain that fell upon the city earlier in the day, Artwalk was busy and bustling.

The Colibri Ensemble and the Whatcom Sound Jazz Singers were on hand to perform a few a cappella numbers, as well as share several holiday tunes with the crowd. From here, we strolled a few blocks over to The Amadeus Project's Fifth Anniversary Party, and surprised the gathering with two sets of music.

The evening was capped off with a few more refreshments (chocolate wine!) and stories at the charming Blue Horse Gallery. I've read on several occasions that a good indicator of a town's health is the liveliness of its arts and culture scene. If that is true, our little town of Bellingham appears to be doing very, very well.
