Not so Common

Wetlands Bird Survey day, and it wasn't a bad one - just a bit cold to the hands for juggling binoculars, camera, notebook and pen. We had one species that is pretty unusual for this location - namely Teal. The records show it has been sighted during the count only 4 times since the count here started, the most recent being 2001. They were too far away to get a decent photo.
One of the challenges of the count is picking out and identifying different gulls. Most of the roost there were Black-headed Gulls but amongst them were a few Common Gulls like this one. They are far from common around here unlike in some parts of Scotland where they breed.
