My Old School

Between 1953 and 1958 I attended Todmorden Grammar School.  Many, many memories - not all good, and some bad ones were self-inflicted - but very formative in my early life.  Now - in an act of sheer vandalism - Calderdale Council have demolished this magnificent building so as to accommodate sports facilities and staff parking for the new school (modern & characterless) that has been built on the old school sports ground behind.
Calderdale state that it was not economic to maintain - which is difficult to disprove, but I think a little more spent on preventive maintenance over the years would have preserved this special building.
