Ashton Memorial, for Ryan

Councils don't always get things right but one thing they have done is illuminate the Ashton Memorial to represent different charities and causes. Ashton memorial is the big building on the hill in Lancaster and is clearly visible from the A6. It was built by lord Ashton as a monument to his late second wife. It is a beautiful building visible from and with views over much of Lancaster and Morecambe. Last week a young boy passed away. He had been fighting a brain tumour for years and spent much of his time working for children's cancer charities. Last week he passed away. He had voiced how wonderful it would be for the memorial to be lit gold to raise awareness for children's cancer charities. Last week, shortly after his death, the memorial was bathed in gold.
