Cleaning up is tedious

Decoration just goes on and on: we started the latest round a year ago, but we’re still at it, it’s all connected to the same event – waterproofing the cellar – whose process was much longer than we anticipated.  The cellar was proofed in January 2018, but so was the lower part of the wall at the back of the house, one that seemed to exude salts all the time.  We have finally re-painted that wall in Crown's Happy Daze colour – hence the yellow rollers.

The cellar took months longer than it should have done because the plumber who was doing the flooring assumed that the builder who had removed some dwarf walls had levelled the floor, even though there was no evidence of the stuff needed.  So he laid the flooring (on top of the underfloor heating that he had installed) before pronouncing it not level enough.

So it all had to come up again, we found someone to do the levelling (which reduced our headroom by some 40mm) and the plumber returned at last to re-lay the floor.  During which time the skirting board had warped and the plumber pronounced it unfit for re-fitting.  So I straightened the skirting myself, repainted it and glued it to the wall (no penetration of the proofing allowed).

The carpenter came last week and fitted the boxing over the heating manifold, a lovely job, and the cellar is now finished.  Oh wait, we need a fastener for the boxing door . . .
