First Street Park Run

Tess & I decided we fancied trying out the local park run, which started last year, so we were at the start line at 9 o'clock this morning and relieved to find that we weren't the only newbies and in fact two of the others were friends of ours.

We really enjoyed it and managed the 5k in a fairly respectable 40 minutes, and managed to run far more of it than we thought we might given that I haven't done any serious running in 30 years and Tess never has. We were chuffed to find that Tess had finished 2nd in her age group and I was 6th in mine - although we subsequently discovered, when we had a look at the full results, that there were only 2 and 6 in our respective age groups:)

There was a good turnout of 182 runners and it was a very friendly and supportive atmosphere so we'll definitely give it another go and, as you can see, at least you can enjoy a view of the Tor while taking a breather.

We're off to a 60th birthday party for other friends of ours tonight and our fellow newbie runner friends will also be there so we'll be able to compare aches and pains!

I'll catch up on commenting one of these days.
