Elephant Sanctuary

We picked up a hire car this morning and left Kuala Lumpur for further north. We started with an Elephant sanctuary which was really interesting, particularly enlightening on the plight of elephants losing territory to growers of palm oil. Such magnificent animals. The sanctuary rescues orphan elephants and returns them to the wild and also cares for others that were injured or badly treated. The keepers (mahouts) take their elephants to the river to clean them and keep them free of pests - fascinating to watch as the animals clearly loved this time.

Then we drove on towards the town of Ipoh. This involved an extremly twisty road across the mountains, interesting but not the best route.  However, we did come across an interesting bridge across a valley end with an abandoned house close by so well worth the awkward journey.

I'm now up to date with Blips after a couple of days with poor wifi.
