"2 onions cut into quarters," said the recipe, so I did but, as we were cooking lunch for a friend who is currently confined to her house after a stroke, it was being transported in the car and I didn't cut all the way through.

The result was onions ready to cook without falling apart and an interesting piece of art.

It was good to see her looking much improved, more mobile than the last visit and still full of life, good humour and interest.

It's been a good weekend!
