Witch hazel

The Witch hazel (Hamamelis mollis) in my front garden is blooming with spidery yellow stamens and tiny dark red petals. It's there for already ten years or more and although it is a slow grower it gets better every year. In Dutch it is called a "Toverhazelaar", or Magic Hazel. May be they called it "Magic" because they used the twigs as dowsing rods to find water.
