It Would Have Been Rude Not To...

Lisbon Day 1
A very early start this morning as I travelled with a friend to Lisbon for a few days city break. We are staying in a lovely hotel in the Baixa district, a perfect location for exploring. After dropping our bags at the hotel and a stop for lunch, we walked down Rua Augusta to Praca do Comercio (extra). After we walked through to Alfama district stopping at The Se (cathedral) before heading up to the Castelo de Sao Jorge via the viewpoint at Largo das Portos do Sol overlooking Alfama and the river and a quick stop to try the local cherry liquor, Ginja.

We had a lovely wander around the Castle, which had some amazing views across the city (extra) including our hotel. The castle itself was mainly ruins but the walk around the walls was definitely worth it. We made our way back through some of the colourful narrow streets (main picture) but we got distracted from actually getting to the hotel by the food market selling hot mulled wine and cheese and meat platters...well it would have been rude not to!
