Optimism

An outdoor seating area in Aberdeen is a display of optimism even in summer. In winter it is merely an obstruction. This open space named "The Green" is need of a bit of colour to contrast the all pervading greyness of the space. Unfortunately not helped by particularly unattractive buildings at each end.

I passed through The Green on my way to see the film "Mary Queen of Scots". Mary and Elizabeth both surrounded by very hairy men, such that the male members of the cast were unrecognisable. Even though I did see some familiar names in the credits.

Between The Green and the cinema I stopped off briefly at "Craftsman". This is a (to me) new establishment on the corner of Market and Guild Streets. I am not sure when it opened, late last year possibly. It specialises in craft beers and coffee. There was a large selection of both beers and coffees. Pleasant and spacious internal decor, friendly and helpful staff. Definitely a place I will recommend and return to in the future. Handy for Union Square. A large selection of coffee beans from around the world which they grind and package to take away.
