Cold (But Not Extremely So).

We had another cold but sunny day, not to be wasted on indoor tasks so, after the necessary shopping, we took the air at Portobello.
As a surprise to us, the sand above high tide was covered in frost, as was anything out of reach of the sun, such as these shells and seaweed in the lea of the easternmost groyne (this is a gabion, the others are wooden) - even yesterday's footprints were frosted.
Back home, at higher elevation, our driveway sparkles, but the car is tucked up in the garage, ready for another chilly expedition.
We feel for our friends in the USA, suffering the polar vortex, with unimaginably cold temperatures.
