Local mini excursion

A lovely crisp day, one that drew us outside despite the low temperatures. Thankfully no wind but it was crunchy underfoot at Acton Burnell Castle. Dad was keen to have a look round so we spent a good length of time there until he decided he'd had enough coolth.

I've spent much of the afternoon exploring the speech recognition program on his laptop and writing out all the on-screen instructions by hand in BIG CAPITAL LETTERS for him. Sadly, the facility that magnifies the screen most of the time doesn't apply to any of the wizards for setting up and training the computer to recognise your personal dulcet tones. Such a pity in an otherwise fantastic facility. Anyway, job done.

He'd also like to access BBC Sounds but dislikes (a mild version of his comment) the fact that he needs an email account and password. His old email is defunct and he resists having to learn a new one. "Why can't they just resurrect my old btinternet one?" "Because you've changed all your bt account ..." "But why ....?" I gave up. Sorry, just too little time and too complicated when he leaves tomorrow and I can't explain it in person over days. And I'm not doing it over the phone!!

Poor chap. Things move so fast and what was once seemingly written in stone now has the quality of shifting sand. So difficult for an old gentleman with so little eyesight and much frustration.
