Mid-Rehearsal Break

This morning we, the St Magnus Festival Chorus, had our last rehearsal for tonight's singing of Handel's Messiah. Although the orchestra is local, Orkney Camerata, the four soloists and conductor had flown up from elsewhere in Scotland and further south, so we only got the one rehearsal with everyone together.

The conductor is Martyn Brabbins, who regularly up and conducts us and has close links with the St Magnus Festival. Over the years he's got used to us, and we've got used to him! He's great fun and we all enjoy singing for him. It went well and the evening's concert was a great success too! The funds raised go to fund music projects for orphan children in Malawi.

In a few weeks time some of us are going to be singing it all over again, in Edinburgh, at the Usher Hall, with the Edinburgh Royal Choral Union! Very exciting!
