Traveling to Glencoe

The alarm clock went off at 02.15 am this morning. There’s a plane to be catched. We (that is Ron, Herman and I) are going to Scotland/Glencoe today.

I picked Ron up at his home in Ten Boer at 03.00 and half an hour later Herman stepped into my car as well in Zuidhorn. Next destination: Schiphol Airport.

Around 05.15 we left the car, parked at the P3 long term parking, and went the final part by bus to the departure terminal. Because we were way too early (we’d expected some nasty weather that didn’t came) we enjoyed a coffee, cappuccino and a tea at the bar Cross Roads while we were forced to listen to the song Man Down by Rianna (rrrrom pompompom). I fear this song already has become the theme song of this trip. We’ll see..

The airport security checks went by, to our surprise, very smoothly. Our bags didn’t have to be opened at all. After that we had to wait until 08.45, boarding time.

We landed at Glasgow Airport at 09.35 (as Ron said: it was a pleasant uneventful flight), picked up our bags, picked up our rental car and drove north.
Lunch halfway at the Drovers’ Inn. Check in at the Clachaig Inn at 13.45.
A perfect trip so far!!

I haven’t even mentioned that we’ve arrived in a perfect winter wonder land. There’s a lot of beautiful fresh snow here and we couldn’t wait to get started with our photography.
As always on the first day we’ve all got to get into our photography routines again, so we were all struggling a bit with finding 1) a good location and 2) good compositions. At least I was. We made it easy for ourselves by shooting from a beautiful viewpoint where we never even had to leave the parking.

Dinner around 18.00 hours and after that we all went to our rooms very early. We’re calling it a day. All we need now is a long good sleep. Our real photography journey starts tomorrow morning at 07.45 hours. Looking forward to it already.
