How do these starlings....

....avoid each other?

I try not to do similar blips in any given week but these Starlings are mesmerising, I could watch them for hours. Since Friday the murmuration seems to have doubled in size. 

The sound alone is something special too, you can hear them sweeping in waves and when they finally settle down in the huge conifers the tweeting is deafening. It's a good job we are on an industrial estate. There is also the sound of splattering too when they are swirling around, it's also a good job our building has a large overhang near the entrance so I can be outside without the fear of being pooped on.
