Cyclist at Mt. Loft summit

After the popularity of my avenue of gums, I thought I might blip a view today looking across a valley of gum trees to the Piccadilly Valley at the back of Mt. Lofty. Took lots of photos of this view and the gum trees from the Botanical Gardens, and then moved on to the Mt. Lofty summit nearby.

On arriving at the summit lookout, the view was not crystal clear over the city and was a bit too hazy. A cyclist arrived at the lookout point and was reading the sign board on the landmarks in front of that spot. So I grabbed a few shots of him, resting at this very popular tourist spot at the summit.

On reviewing all the photos, this one seemed to stand out "above the trees" as interesting and quite different to any photo I have ever blipped before. It is dedicated to UK's Huw Thomas, a cyclist and champion indoor rower who introduced Paladian and I to blip on July 18th this year. Thanks Huw! The cyclist looks even fitter in LARGE!

Located in the Adelaide Hills, the Mount Lofty Summit is a "must see" destination for any visitor to South Australia. Each year more than 350,000 people visit the peak which rises 710 metres above sea level. This summit viewing point provides breathtaking panoramic views across Adelaide's city skyline to the coast, with visibility extending as far as Kangaroo Island on clear days.

You can enjoy a stroll through native bushland, or visit the nearby Cleland Wildlife Park, walk on the Heysen Trail or hike down to the Brownhill Creek or Waterfall Gully. If interested you can read more about this lookout here, and see some pictures taken on a clear day.
