Home made fat ball for your garden birds

Home made fat balls! Cheap to make and full of goodness!  Much better that those dubious pale brown balls of clotted sawdust in red plastic mesh!
Recipe:
Melt (don't boil!) 0.5 kilo Lard - add 0.5 kilo wild bird seed and 0.5 kilo of finely chopped bird peanuts and half a large loaf of bread (crumbed). Stir together and then add 0.5 litre warm water (critical). Stir and leave to cool. Form into balls. DON'T PACK THEM IN PLASTIC MESH! Put out for the birds!
