street art

In a seaside town in N Ireland, I came across this amazing piece of street art. I think it recalls an ancient Irish story.

The swans represent the four children of Lir being turned into swans by their stepmother and exiled to spend 900 years roaming Ireland. Part of this time was spent on the ' Cold Seas of Moyle' and local tradition tells of them sheltering in the Margie river from winter storms.
The myth may not be well know to the casual visitor but the eye is drawn in and you choose to spend a while studying the art. It is good to learn new things as it is by learning we grow. We are never too old to learn
