Morning walk

At this time of year, walking in the morning is often preferable to waiting till the short afternoon. This photo was taken on the old road out of Dunoon, between Puck's Glen and the Black Gates to Benmore Gardens, on a perfect morning. The only flaw in the plan was that we were a bit early for the low sun to have reached the road; this stretch was one of the few bits in sunshine and the surface of the road was treacherous with sudden slippery bits where the frost had frozen the damp leaves or left glassy bits of elderly tarmac.

The other miscalculation was that the coffee shop at the gardens would be open. It shuts on Mondays and Tuesdays in winter. Be warned!
