Raise A Glass

Not much of a photo but a bit of good history instead. Prof' Hansen was employed by the brewery to work on yeast. Up until 1883 yeast was impure and very hit or miss for brewing beer. Emil here was the first to isolate a pure yeast cell, which along with pure water, gave perfect beer every time. The strain was named Saccharomyces carlsbergensis.  The Boss then gave away this potential monopoly of beer to the world and today every beer is brewed with this yeast. So raise a glass to Emil next time you find a beer in your hand and to Carl for being so generous.

This is part of the new hotel, I expect the pipes to be hidden eventually.
