Alexander’s Belt

Never too old to learn. Today I learned that the dark band between the arcs in a double rainbow is called Alexander’s Belt, named after Alexander of Aphrodisias who first described it in 200AD.   Thanks to blipper Mullgeology for the info!

The travellers are safely in the right side of the stormy waters.  They got up early and left Edinburgh just after 6am and were able to catch the 10 from Oban. During the day ferries were cancelled then they weren’t and then they were again. Unusually the Oban ferry had less cancellations than the Lochaline one!

For one day only... a non square format blip!  I’ve put a panorama of the rainbows in as an extra.
