Sound as a Pound

Today's weather - wet and windy - was not conducive to venturing outside Maison MD, so I elected to do a few bits around the house that have been neglected whilst we have been off colour.
I looked inside 'The Box' looking for a Blip, and came across these Pound Notes.
I am not a notaphilist (a collector of banknotes) by any stretch of the imagination. I'm just someone who sees something he likes and puts it in a box to look at in later times.  These bank notes fit that criteria. I think the earlier ones have much more 'gravitas' - but I seem to recall the British Pound had much more importance once upon a time.
