Stourhead Behind Closed Doors

We met my sister and brother-in-law at Stourhead this morning for a "behind closed doors" of the rooms in the house that aren't normally open to visitors. It was interesting to hear more of the history of the house and the lives of those who lived and worked there while viewing the bedrooms, servants' quarters and the below stairs areas like the kitchen and wine cellars.

Ironically, the gardens were closed due to the high winds and heavy rains so the whole place was very quiet. We had to be taken to the house by minibus so this was the only photo I managed to take before we were ushered back onto the bus after the tour

Afterwards we went back to their house for a very pleasant late lunch / early dinner.

We really enjoyed Stan & Ollie last night, a gentle and moving film, beautifully acted.
