Up on the roof

When Mike built my hut he wanted to make it a green roof.  We covered the roof with a damp proof course, then old carpet, secured with batons, and then a layer of gritty compost.  We took offshoots of various rockery plants, sedums, alpines and sempervivums that we already had in the garden and planted them at the end of the summer and amazingly nearly all of them have survived the winter (so far!) and some are even starting to flower!

A long overdue coffee morning with blipper Bodkin today.  She's a busy woman and difficult to pin down unless it's bad weather!  Great to catch up with her and lovely to sit and chat.

PS Re yesterday's blip - Trolling Motor
A motor for the dinghy which doesn't have nasty petrol fumes, nor does it make a noise, so you can silently "troll" around the bay looking at seals!  Terns even come and land on the boat, it is so peaceful . . .  Starts with the touch of a button too, no heavy pulling on a cord to start it.  Think electric lawn mower as opposed to a petrol one.  There is probably a more accurate description, but that's the best I can offer!
