Storm Front

More Brexit storms and sinking ferries and so was a bit surprised when time shot by and needed to put on a light to see the keyboard. Then remembered I needed to take a walk with Luna.

As it was so late 17:47 (seunset17:30) risked taking the standard emergency walk that I haven't used since the snow came on January 5th. Goodness, that was a long time ago. As we set off there were very dark clouds to the north and seemingly coming our way but I knew we would be home before they arrived.

It was quite warm when we crossed the road, probably about +5°C and I was sure the walk over the fields and tracks would now be free or at least OK.

It wasn't and before we managed to trudge the 100m over a field to a track, the wind and rain came. At least we could get up a bit of speed on the firmer but not cleared tack for 200m and for the next long part we had deep snow and gale force headwind and stinging cold rain almost hail as the temperature dropped to just about 0°C and a lot less with wind chill.

It was probably the worst walk I have done with the dogs in the last 15 years. It was horrible and was very pleased to get home. Everything was wet through even my above ankle boots, waterproof or resistant trousers and Luna looked like a drowned rat.

Misjudged that one a bit. Perhaps I need a plan and next time look up some information before setting off. Got all the experts warnings on my mobile phone, weather forecasts, rain radar maps, the whole thing. Less Belief and more Facts might help to avoid such a disaster.

And although the snow is melting, the walk turned out
