A great first night.

Nigel Havers, Denis Lawson and Stephen Tomkinson in “Art” at the King’s Theatre, Edinburgh.

It’s not about art. It’s about attitudes to life and whether friendships can overcome disagreements, and much more. The play is all dialogue with little action. The set was simple and lovely, the players looked sharp in their suits. The three actors were on stage for 90 minutes; they’d mastered their lines and timing perfectly.

It was a good move buying the wee tubs of Luca’s strawberry ice cream before it started.

Back in a few weeks for “Ghost.”
