The Deck Arena

A huge project - a new multi-function Tampere Central Deck and Arena is being built over the railway tracks in the core of Tampere. Studio Libeskind won the architecture competition. The Deck Arena will be a venue for different kind of events events. The Central Deck will also include apartments, restaurants, conference rooms, office spaces and stores. The building site will be  completed in 2021.

The scale model has been built next to the Hotel Tower (as can be seen from the photo). At this phase I'm not huge fan of the plan, I'm not sure how it will fit in. The building site sure will disturb traffic. Combined to the tramline construction works, driving in Tampere will be interesting.
