A day of two artists

I visited Edinburgh City Art Centre to view an exhibition of Edinburgh Street Photography.  the photographer was Robert Blomfield who took some great photographs in the early-mid 60s while a medical student in the city.    Until recently, these gems of photographs were only seen by friends and family.  Now, coinciding with his 80th birthday, they are presented in a very fine exhibition with wonderful shots of kids, street scenes and a changing Edinburgh.  Well worth seeing - on until March 17th.

According to a short video, he took photographs because his heart told him and, until this exhibition, never sought to show them widely.  On the labels next to each photograph, he is labelled an artist.

Another artist was showing at the Visual Arts Scotland exhibition in the RSA building.  He/she was showing a sand sculpture and there was some evidence of collapse.  The blipped sculpture is called 'Sandcastles'.  And it is for sale though I'm not sure quite how you would get it home.

I preferred the photography.
