Martha

A bit of industrial archaeology today.  Headed down the coast for the second half of our little tour.  We stopped in Waihi for a look at the Martha open-cast gold mine.  The main and first extra show the Cornish Pumphouse which was used to pump water out of the original mine workings.  The second extra shows the 2 million ton landslide within the mine that occurred a couple of years ago.  There were no casualties thankfully.  Production is on hold until a new access road can be cut.
Many thanks for the hearts, stars and comments on the last few days' blips.  The weather has been tremendous, if a little hot, and the scenery spectacular.  Hope to catch up on comments soon.
