The sounds of trilling larks soaring up into the blue sky and the wind in the grass with the distant sound of the sea contrasted with the busy crowds of our recent days. Seventy eight pregnant ewes grazed on the grass while being kept safely within their bounds by the colourful electric fences until they leave Aberlady Nature Reserve in March.  The Chevease sheep are part of the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s "Flying Flock" used to suppress unwelcome plants and encourage native wild flowers to grow so in the next few months,  flowers and many moths, butterflies, insects and ground nesting birds will replace the sheep.
