Lyttelton

An excellent visit today to Lyttelton- the port of Christchurch - badly damaged in the 2011 earthquake.

Extras
not Edinburgh! The one o’clock time signal was completely destroyed in the earthquake - just rebuilt and opened.
The famous Tug “Lyttelton “ escorted Shackleton at the beginning of his 1908 voyage. Clyde-built, of course.
The busy port is never quiet
Thousands of containers are shifted around the dock by robotic fork-lifts
