The Breakfast Bunny

I usually prepare breakfast, and after my morning discourse with the Lady from Amazon I am greeted by this New Mexican Jack Rabbit.

I visited SanteFe, NM in the 80s to see friends and discuss a potential residential project. SanteFe is very much an artists’ town and there is wide range of Native Art.

The Sculpture is carved out of Mesquite and his four whiskers are cactus needles. He is hand painted. The artist is David Alvarez and he made a complete family of rabbits ranging from little ones to 7 feet monsters. This one was the biggest that would fit in my luggage.

The tea urn holds the ground coffee and filter papers and the beaten copper curved vessel is a Cataplana.

A cataplana is an item of cookware used to prepare Portuguese seafood dishes, popular on the country's Algarve region. According to The Oxford Companion to Food, the most famous dish made in a cataplana is amêijoas na cataplana.

The abstract painting is by California Girl and was done when she attended California College of Arts and Crafts. It is based on a map of an area in Oakland.

Breakfast as always was superb
