Angkor Silk Farm, Siem Reap, Cambodia

The Artisans d'Angkor in Siem Reap provides schooling, vocational training, a mid-point, free school, free nursery and free health insurance to people that don't  have a chance at the labor market. I visited the craftsmen and the silk farm.

25 people and unbelievable more processes are needed to produce a silk scarf. It takes a year to learn one pattern, and then 4 months to weave it. A new pattern take a new year. The most experienced can after many years create their own patterns. Silk should not be bought cheaply. Good working conditions must cost.

A very interesting day!
