Native American Honor Song

We participated in a memorial service for a friend this evening.

She was instrumental in organizing and maintaining the monthly devotions of the Interfaith Prayer Service International here in Eugene.

After the September 11, 2001 attack on the United States she galvanized the religious leaders of Eugene to organize an interfaith prayer meeting to protect the members of the Muslim Faith through understanding by all of the persons of faith in Eugene.

What began as a short term means to promote understanding of, and protection for Muslim believers, has continued as a monthly gathering for shared devotions by all persons of faith "celebrating diversity with the grace of unity".

The consecutive unbroken chain of interfaith devotional gatherings has continued for 11 years. The 135th gathering celebrated her life. Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Native American, Hindu, Sufi, Baha'i, Sikh Faiths all were represented in the prayers provided tonight.

So much to process and meditate upon.
