£1 and Fishing Boat Fire

7.8C cloudy, flat light. Showers in the afternoon. Moderate S/SSW/SSE breeze.

Last night Apothecary7 and I took Fergus out for his last walk about 11pm. As we approached the harbour I pointed out what looked like a cloud of smoke. Nearer the harbour the cloud was definitely growing and by the time we got to the old quay we could see a small fishing trawler was pouring smoke out of the aft section, and as we stood watching (from a safe distance) there were one or two bangs and then flames erupted from the boat and thick black and grey smoke was pouring into the night sky. I can report that before we left to go home a fire engine and two police vans had arrived and the fire was beginning to come under control. When Fergus and I went round that way this morning there was no sign of the damaged boat.

Fergus and I went for our walk before lunch. We went round to the harbour and had a wander round the old quay. Then we carried on along Hall Street and the shore side of the park and Kilkerran road to Glenramskill House. We turned there and came back the same way then along the street side of the park and came home through town passing the town hall and the bookshop (open).
