The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs

Took the granddaughters to the dress rehearsal for the new Seattle opera, The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, which has only premiered recently in Santa Fe.   Fiona’s first opera is about the iPhone.—- she wasn’t impressed, said she wouldn’t recommend it to her friends.  Tatum said it was “good”.  H and I loved it!
Live orchestra with interesting not so dissonant music...fantastic electronic sets and lighting , good singers.. oh my!  Seems pretty honest about his story and illness and death.   I guess one would learn a lot about this era, but we realized even tho it starts with the Apple computer in the later 70s...we’ve lived through it all, but this 15 yo and 9 yo have not.   The iPhone has only been around since 2007!  Fiona was born in 2010.  But she doesn’t yet have more than an iPad. . We remember the first Apple computer in our house when the girls’ Dad was in middle school.   The message ( I think ) was buy my phone but also smell the flowers.   Of course we are reminded to turn off our phones and after the 90 min performance all those phones get turned back on instantly!

We went early and had fish and chips and toasted cheese and ice cream at Seattle center before a most successful event I’d say.   Yes the selfies were fun , and we met a friend who took us all, and of course this whole blip is off the iPhone and iPad... which “does everything!”

It’s still winter break tomorrow and I had in mind more “art” but think we can’t do better than tonight so we’ll see... might  go to Fiona’s pick of movies....
