Brighton

Mr C and Rebecca were drivers today and we drove to hers first so we could ‘unload’ Sim so he was not squashed in the back and Bex had company. This also meant a bit of cross country to get to Brighton and with heavy traffic in Brighton, I think it ended up being a 2.5+ hour journey. We found a car park but didn’t realise until we walked out that it was extortionate at over £5 an hour. Rebecca had parked (miles away) along the front for much less. Once we had met up and grabbed a coffee Mr C went and moved the car but not as far as where Rebecca was. Whilst Mr C was off car shuffling, we had a walk around the lanes and met him back at the pier.

We walked down to the end of the pier but I was very conscious of the time as I had read the murmuration starts about half hour before sunset. I had also read online it was at West Pier and after checking a map knew it was probably a 15 minute walk.

En route we bumped into someone that Mr C used to work with. We socialised occasionally and she knew all the kids when they were small. It was lovely to see her. On we went. ‘They should be here now’ ‘they’re late’ said the kids and then Josh noticed they were flying over the main pier. We left Mr C taking photos of the sunset as we walked back towards the pier to watch. If only we had stayed on the pier although I’m not sure we would have seen the patterns so clearly. In the meantime Mr C had headed back to the pier (not seeing us on the beach) and witnessed them more closely but I’ve yet to see his pics. They had all gone to bed by the time we got there and were chirping noisily.it would have been lovely to be a little nearer but I was really chuffed to have seen it.

Time for a fish and chip supper (our first proper meal since last weekend) and back onto the pier to play on the 2p machines in the arcade.

Luckily, Rebecca’s satnav showed her going the same way as us so Sim could travel with her until we got to Cobham services where we met to pick him up. A lovely day and really pleased I got to get out.

Not fab pics. They were collected from the video I took. A few extras of our day.
